Good lighting isn’t just about the light fitting you choose. It’s about how the light works within a space.

One of the simplest ways to create a warm, inviting interior is to let light bounce off walls and ceilings. Rather than shining directly into a room, reflected light spreads more softly, reducing harsh shadows and creating a relaxed atmosphere.

A Simple Trick That Makes a Big Difference

Try positioning a table lamp near a wall or using a floor lamp that directs light towards the ceiling. The reflected light creates a softer glow, adds depth to the room and makes the space feel more comfortable.

Light-coloured walls and ceilings work particularly well because they reflect more light, while darker surfaces absorb more of it.

Create Ambience with Layered Lighting

Rather than relying entirely on ceiling lights, combine pendant lights, table lamps and floor lamps at different heights. Use warm-white bulbs around 2700K for a cosy, welcoming feel, particularly in living rooms and bedrooms.
